Yiruma ~ A Virtuoso Pianist

Listening to a concert is always a good way to be introduced to an album or famous artist. No doubt cost of the ticket is a driving factor but from a listener's view, it is still worth it if we can spare the money and indeed we will appreciate the music differently and the most important : " I DID! "

Yiruma's concert in Malaysia. Before the concert, I had a quick listen to his latest album - Blind Film.  For me, it is somehow similar with style he played in his previous release - Stay in Memory. But after hearing his played during the concert, it is totally different!

"Maybe" has been chosen as the prelude of the concert.  An enjoyable and lighthearted piece. For me,  Yiruma's music is simple, a melody driven pianist who needs conviction in its tunes to elicit the emotions of listeners. " I create my music with freedom and inspiration." he said. This is why I love his music so much as his music allows listeners to consider the emotion itself instead of the lyricist's interpretation. The sincerity and the nature feelings of the message is there and a good pianist - Yiruma transcend it.

The half part of the concert contained more his early pieces. A more intimate, iniquitous emotions piano ballads in the air. Yiruma's music allows me to have my own imagination, flashback while maintaining personal intimacy. "Kiss the rain" was the last piece of the first part during the concert.
Beautiful melodies while for me the minor tonality is quite similar to " A River Flows in You". But between the two well famous, I am more to "Kiss the rain", i adore the emotion that brought to me although you will feel hurt sometimes.  I always think that "Kiss the rain " is seems to illustrate a lonely, melancholy people, perhaps after a crush of love. But somehow it is beautiful although it  break my heart sometimes.

Kim Young Min -  A Cellist joined the play in the second half of the concert. Yiruma played more songs in his latest album " Blind Film". Reminiscent and memories has brought me back to the passed, and this is why I tend to like this album afterlistening to his live, simply because it resonates. I am enamoured with another song in this album which named - " Blind Improvisation". It is a piece which was co- written with his cellist collaborator Kim Young Min. The performance of the night was impressive.

Yiruma's played of the night is like a story- telling session, it complete with an intro, characterization, imagination, crescendo, bridge and comes to an ending. The songs tell different stories, different notes shared by different tracks but there are always continuity.

Yiruma ~ ~ A pianist who heals and soothes my soul.
